My spouse loves The Bulwark, too. Do we have to pay twice?

If you’re an annual subscriber, email us with the email address your spouse or partner uses for Substack. We’ll give them a complimentary subscription through the end of your current subscription term. This benefit isn’t available with monthly subscriptions because it has to be done by hand. (Also, annual subscriptions are cheaper and an incentive to switch.)

Once you've done this, we will confirm that your spouse has access through the end of your current annual term.

A week before your next renewal date, you’ll each receive an email: the paid subscriber's email will say your paid subscription is about to renew, and the spouse's will say their complimentary access is about to expire. Substack subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled, but complimentary spouse or partner access must be extended manually each year. When yours renews, please email us to extend theirs through your next subscription term.
